Active Humber is a charitable company whose purpose is to help people of all ages and backgrounds to improve their health and wellbeing by taking part in regular physical activity and sport. Active Humber is also one of the 42 Active Partnerships located across England, and as such, receives funding from Sport England to carry out several functions to help achieve the Sport England strategy at a community level.

Anyone can volunteer; all you need is passion and some available time (sometimes very little!).

People choose to volunteer for a variety of reasons; it may be that you'd like an opportunity to give back to your community, make a difference to the lives of others, improve your CV by developing your skills or pay forward a good deed you received. It may be that you want to volunteer for one off events, help to run a fundraising project, become a trustee, or volunteer as a family.

Whatever your motivation, commitment and availability, there will be an opportunity to suit you. To volunteer at a sports club or setting you:

  • Do NOT need to have formal qualifications to get involved. There are plenty of roles within a club, from meet and greeter, organisation roles, PR or marketing.
  • Do NOT need to be sporty or physically fit to volunteer at a sports club or setting. For example, digital or fundraising skills are mostly sought after within clubs.
  • Do NOT need to be able to offer lots of time. The setting will communicate with you through role outlines and agree commitments. There are one off events that you can take part in too!
