Jean Walker, CHCP Volunteer for the Talking Therapies Allotment

Jean has been a vital volunteer at the allotment group for over a decade, supporting individuals with mental health issues, such as depression and anxiety.

Her warmth, humour and compassion resonate with the young attendees, aged 18 to 30, as she effortlessly connects with them. Jean defies stereotypes of her age, engaging in discussions about pop culture and actively participating in gardening tasks. Despite recent health challenges, she remains committed, attending weekly for 5 hours, maintaining social connections even in adverse weather.

Jean, also a volunteer at Hull Royal Infirmary, inspires others with her energy and dedication, exemplifying positive aging.
