Donna Adams, Age UK

Donna is a Telephone Befriender who has supported 4 older individuals weekly since January 2021. 

Despite being registered blind, she volunteers over 200 hours annually, offering companionship to those feeling lonely and isolated. Donna began volunteering during the Covid pandemic to combat her own feelings of isolation. Her thoughtfulness shines through, as she arranged a Christmas dinner for a lonely buddy and educates herself on various topics to engage in meaningful conversations. 

One gentleman calls her his “guardian angel,” crediting her with boosting his confidence and enriching his life. Their first in-person meeting after years of calls was deeply moving.
