Long Serving - Maggie Masters (Bridlington Salvation Army)

Maggie has been a dedicated volunteer across multiple organisations for over 20 years, quietly transforming lives in her community. At the heart of her efforts is the Bridlington Salvation Army, where she has worked tirelessly to support those in need—whether through the charity shop she helps run, distributing clothing and household essentials to struggling families, or liaising with local agencies to ensure no one is left behind. Her compassion extends far beyond one role—she is also a trustee at the Kingfisher Café for the homeless, where she manages weekly food collections, and has been a committed Humberside Police Volunteer for two decades.

In addition, Maggie is a long-serving host for SASH, providing a safe, supportive home to vulnerable young people aged 16–25 who are at risk of homelessness. Over the years, she and her husband have opened their doors to more than 100 young people, many of whom have stayed for extended periods and gone on to rebuild their lives. She also co-leads Uniform4All, a grassroots initiative that collects and redistributes school uniforms, helping hundreds of families access clothing that might otherwise have been financially out of reach—or sent to landfill.

Maggie gives countless hours each week to her voluntary work—preparing the charity shop, collecting donations, mentoring young people, running food pick-ups, attending meetings, and coordinating school uniform distribution days. Even in retirement, her energy and compassion never waver. She is constantly in motion, responding to urgent calls, helping neighbours, and being a reliable point of contact for anyone in need.

Her impact is felt across the community. Families are clothed, young people are housed and nurtured, and people in crisis are supported—because Maggie is there. As one local saying goes, “Ask Maggie—if she doesn’t know, she’ll find someone who does.” Her quiet strength, boundless generosity, and unwavering commitment make her an exceptional long-serving volunteer and a true community pillar.
