Older Volunteer Award (sponsored by KCOM)

Award Winner, Beryl Kelsey, Backcare and other organisations

Beryl organises read and chat sessions for the library, runs a ukulele group, and is an active member of HEY Confident Futures alongside her voluntary duties at Backcare. She unites the causes she supports. Through Backcare’s monthly coffee club she has formed an alliance with Bora Shabaa, an organisation supporting immigrants to Hull from the Congo. Bora Shabaa members are now attending Beryl's ukulele group, improving their health and happiness and bringing joy to others. Now in her 80’s, Beryl is still a ‘force of nature’.
