Trustees' Week is a UK wide initiative which celebrates the good work of trustees. This year’s Trustees’ Week is held between the 7th and 11th of November.
What is a trustee? Trustees are the individuals who make decisions on behalf of a charity and are responsible for making sure it’s doing what it was set up to do.
Trustees' Week gives us the chance to showcase the great work that trustees do. Trustees not only give their time, skills and experience to a good cause, they also learn new and useful skills too.
Christine Hornshaw, Chair of Trustee's at Platform Provision, is pictured above as she was the winner of the Trustee Award at the recent Time2Volunteer Awards 2022. You can read about Christine's experience in our Case Studies.
Ros Jump, a Trustee at Humber All Nations Alliance, says: "Being a Trustee enables you to develop the organisation but being a Trustee shouldn't be muddled up with taking on a managerial role. The two roles are totally different.
Trustees have legal responsibilities but there is plenty of help for new Trustees, from online courses to booklets, and these are not too onerous. Quite often an experienced Trustee will act as mentor and guide. A Trustee needs a good mix of skills and experience, and at times it can be fun. As a Trustee you can make a difference and it is very rewarding.”
We know that lots of trustees work hard behind the scenes and would like to recognise and thank all of the volunteers who give their commitment and enthusiastic support to organisations across the Humber region.
Time2Volunteer has teamed up with Hull CVS, HEY Smile Foundation and HEY Confident Futures to showcase the great work Trustees do.
We encourage local charities and organisations to thank their own amazing trustees using the hashtag #TrusteesWeek and #HEYTrustees
