This is the place for all things volunteering around The King's Coronation and The Big Help out in May 2023!

Find out about celebratory events and activities, how to organise a street party, what The Big Help Out is, volunteer opportunities, the Coronation Champions Awards and more...

The King's Coronation is on Saturday 6th May 2023 and it is expected that it will bring together people and communities in celebration, across that weekend and on the bank holiday Monday 8th May 2023.

We all hope that enthusiasm and excitement around the celebrations will bring new people to volunteering and that volunteer spirit will build well past the week itself.

What is The Big Help Out?

Organisations across the country will mark The King’s Coronation by giving us all the chance to help out in our own local communities, in a campaign called The Big Help Out.

Starting on Monday 8th May there will be opportunities for everyone to join in.

Help us to do something amazing. Join in, Lend a hand. Make a change.

Can I organise a community event or street party?

Yes! Everyone is encouraged to celebrate, and community events or street parties are a great way to do that.

They don't need to be themed around the Coronation; it's more about getting together with neighbours and friends to bring a sense of community.

GOV.UK's website has a really simple and myth busting guide to organising a street party.

The Big Lunch brings neighbours and communities together to share friendship, food and fun. They offer lots of ideas and advice to start planning something to look forward in their Big Coronation Lunch pack.

For community events or street parties, you might need to get public liability insurance or apply to your local council to close your road if necessary.
